STEFANIA (ORTHODOX BRIDAL CROWNS)
Stefania (Bridal Crowns) are used within the Wedding Ceremony of the Orthodox Church.
Joined by a ribbon symbolising the unity of the bride and groom, and the presence of Christ who blesses and joins the couple, establishing them as King and Queen of their home, where they will rule with wisdom, justice & integrity .
During the crowning, the Priest takes the Stefana blessing the bride and groom in the name of the Father, the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, then places the Stefana on their heads. The koumbaro(best man/matron of honour) then steps behind the bride and groom and interchanges the Stefana three timesas a witness to the sealing of the union.
